School History

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Omaha has long had an active role in Christian education. The first school met in the basement of the old church on Indiana Avenue and graduated its first eighth graders in 1905. When the church moved to 27th and St. Mary Avenue, the school moved to that location and was again held in the basement of the church. Continuous education has been provided since that time. In 1956, a facility was built at 820 Mayfield Avenue to provide an improved location for Adventist education in Omaha. In 1983, the school was moved to its present location. Portable classrooms were used until the completion of the new classroom addition in 1987. The Evelina Aitken playground was completed in 1995. In 2022, the school received donated funds to install a new playground. In 2023 and 2024, further donations were received, and the school underwent several interior renovations. In the spring of 2025 another donation provided a new exterior roof for the gymnasium.

School Philosophy

The Seventh-day Adventist Church recognizes there is both purpose and process in providing Christian education for its own and other children. A harmonious development of physical, mental, spiritual, and social abilities is essential to produce a well-rounded character in each student. We labor earnestly to provide such character by helping our students discover the benefits of Biblical knowledge. We believe that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God,” 2 Timothy 3:16. We accept it as the very foundation of all true belief and practice. The application of Biblical principles to everyday life will foster a trusting relationship with Jesus Christ, develop meaningful relationships with one another, and nurture academic achievement in each student. We also accept the writings of Ellen G. White as a helpful guide to better understand the principles of Christian living. The resulting practical living habits will open avenues of service to humanity and provide overall appreciation and enjoyment of life.
